508 Pershing at Oakwood Shores is a mixed-use, four-story, 53-unit apartment building being constructed in Chicago’s Bronzeville community. Sixty-eight (68%) of the Development’s apartments will be Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) units, while also providing community-oriented retail on the ground level. As the Civil Engineer of Record, Engage was responsible for civil site design, production of all drawings, stormwater cal- culations, and specifications associated with the 69k sq.ft. building situated on the 31,000 sq.ft. corner lot. Site features include a permeable paver parking lot above a detention basin of open-graded stone, taking advan- tage of the existing sand sub-grade to recharge groundwater levels and reduce the stormwater entering the combined sewer system.
