In 2014 the Harvey Public Library contracted the architecture firm of Moody Nolan to lead the design of a $6 million renovation and expansion of the City’s public library in downtown Harvey, Illinois. Engage Civil served the project team as lead civil consultant and Civil Engineer of Record for the 1.14 acre site. Subject to the permitting requirements of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) under their new Watershed Management Ordinance (WMO), Engage produced a site design that effectively manages the ‘first-flush’ in a groundwater recharge basin, and engineered all elements of the stormwater management in conformance with rigorous WMO requirements.
Additional responsibilities included design of the building’s water and sewer connections, site pavements, and extensive coordination with the project Construction Manager. All calculations, permit forms and schedules required to procure sitework approvals from both the City of Harvey and MWRD were prepared directly by Engage.
